Scotland Cricket on the move to revolutionary horizons

Cricket Scotland has taken a revolutionary decision to take women's cricket of the nation to a professional level. They have declared that paid contracts are to be offered to the women's team for the first time. 

The decision by the board has been taken to encourage the players to devote more time to training and becoming more professional about their approach towards the game. Earlier in 2021, they have introduced equal match fees for men's and women's. 

The chair person of Cricket Scotland, Anajan Luthra commented on the marquee moment in Scotland's cricketing history. 

"This is a watershed moment  for the sport in Scotland. "The investment is an important building block in our desire to make cricket in Scotland a fully inclusive sport where there is no place for racism, discrimination or inequalities. We have an opportunity to create a bold new vision for Scottish cricket. We are rebuilding capacity within the governing body and addressing the weaknesses and failings identified through the Changing the Boundaries report."

Notably, Luthra was appointed in the capacity of the current role after the previous board resigned in July, a day before the publication of the Changing the Boundaries report. This report identified the governance and leadership of the sport in Scotland to be institutionally racist. 

According to Luthra, the steps ahead for them is to create a bold new vision for Scottish cricket. The governing body is now intent in addressing the weaknesses and failings identified through the report.
