London Spirit (LS) secured a 17-run victory over Welsh Fire (WF) in Match 24 of the Men's Hundred Competition at Lord's on August 24 (Wednesday).

Spirit posts a competitive total on the board

Invited to bat first, Spirit had a quick start with Adam Rossington's knock of 32 from 20 balls. He was well supported by Ben McDermott, who also hit 32 and steered the team at a brisk rate.

The skipper Eoin Morgan was dismissed for a duck, which put Spirit under pressure. However, it was a 48-run stand between Daniel Lawrence (43 off 26) and Kieron Pollard (25* off 17), which helped the team to post a score of 156 runs on the board.

Ish Sodhi was the most successful bowler for Fire with two wickets under his belt.

Daniel Lawrence's best bowling figures help Spirit secure a comfortable victory

In a chase of 158, Fire lost their talented openers Joe Clarke and Jacob Bethell in the powerplay overs. The poor form of Josh Cobb and David Miller continued and the team could not gain any momentum.

The likes of Ben Duckett (34* off 19) and Dwaine Pretorius (23 off 17) added 43 runs for the fifth wicket to keep Fire in the hunt.

Lawrence was the pick of the bowlers for Spirit with figures of 4/20, which is the best T20 figures of his career.
