The much-anticipated 'The Ashes 2023' series between England and Australia is just 48 hours away as arch-rivals gear up to take on each other for a stake at the urn. Australia are current holders of the trophy, having won the last Ashes 2021-2022 Down Under 4-0.

However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) since then have made noteworthy changes to England's Test setup, by appointing Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes as their new coach and captain, respectively. Under McCullum and Stokes, England have squashed sides, winning as many as 11 Tests out of their last 13, introducing a new brand of red-ball labelled 'Bazball'.

Australia, on the other hand, are coming into the series having thwarted India in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023. Captain Cummins will be hopeful of making it two in a row by winning 'The Ashes 2023', which will also be his maiden tour as a leader to England.

Overall in the 72 Ashes series, Australia have won 34, while England have won 32 times, with six ending in draws.

Cummins and Co. will look to become the first Australian side to win an Ashes series in England after 2001 when Steve Waugh beat the hosts 4-1.

Stokes, who miraculously dented Australia's chances of a series win in 2019, will want to rekindle England's streak at home, having won the Ashes series in 2005, 2009, and 2015.

Edgbaston in Birmingham will play host to the first Test from June 16, with Lord's in London hosting the second Test from June 28.

The third Test will be held at Headingley in Leeds from July 06. The fourth and fifth Tests will take place at Old Trafford in Manchester and The Oval in London from July 19 and July 27, respectively.
