Amidst growing reports of Shaheen Shah Afridi potentially missing Pakistan's Test tour to Sri Lanka in July, the fast bowler shared a video post on the social media platform Twitter on Tuesday evening rubbishing any such claims. As per Cricket Pakistan, local media outlets reported that Afridi could miss the Sri Lankan tour citing concerns about workload management, keeping in mind the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023.

However, in the video, Afridi can be seen practising with a red ball, while the caption stated the Lahore Qalandars (LQ) captain's love for five-day cricket. Afridi is currently playing for Nottinghamshire in the ongoing T20 Blast 2023 and is the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the season so far with 13.

Here's what Afridi's Tweet Said

"Red ball has a different vibe. It’s 🕰️! #TestMatch 🇵🇰🏏”

Pakistan men's team director Mickey Arthur, who is closely monitoring Afridi's progress suggested on Twitter that the Khyber-born needed to increase his workload in order to get ready for grueling Test cricket ahead.

Interestingly, Afridi's last Test appearance came against Sri Lanka at Galle in July 2022, where the pace injured his knee while fielding and has since been out of action in the longest format of the game.

In 25 Tests for Pakistan, the 23-year-old has claimed 99 wickets with four five-wicket and one 10-wicket haul since making his debut in 2018.
