As the Men in Blue are facing the mighty Proteas in the second ODI at Raipur, the crowd witnessed a historic moment. As India is set to host the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup along with Sri Lanka, the BCCI unveiled the new jersey for the global event after India ended their first innings.
A giant jersey with a perfect blend of orange and blue was displayed at the stadium, blending tradition and modernity, and a small ceremony was held at the stadium. After that, T20 World Cup 2026 brand ambassador Rohit Sharma officially unveiled it, joined by rising star Tilak Varma on stage, giving fans a sneak peek of India’s bold new look.
Hitman speaks from the heart ahead of the big Tournament
Last year, Team India lifted the prestigious T20 World Cup trophy, ending a long drought, and this year, Rohit Sharma changed the role. After retiring from the shortest format just after lifting the trophy, Hitman is now the brand ambassador of the upcoming tournament. While unveiling the jersey, he shared some heartfelt words.
“It’s been a long journey. We won our first World Cup in 2007, and we had to wait more than 15 years to win the next one. It’s been a long road with plenty of ups and downs, but it felt great to lift the trophy again,” he said.
“Now, with the World Cup happening in India, it’s going to be an exciting tournament. My best wishes are always with the team, and I’m sure everyone will be behind them, supporting them and doing their best,” he added.
As the tournament is set to start on February 20126, Team India will play the first match on February 8 against the USA at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After living in the glory of the last edition, Indian fans are now looking forward to another successful outing under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership.
