Taskin Ahmed set to miss Test series against West Indies

Bangladesh's pace bowler Taskin Ahmed is set to miss the Test series against West Indies scheduled to begin on June 16, 2022.

Ahmed has been plagued with injuries in his short career and currently is nursing a shoulder injury. He injured himself during the Durban Test and was ruled out of the remainder of the South African tour. The right-arm quick is also sitting out of the ongoing Sri Lanka series.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, BCB Chief Physician Debashish Chowdhury said that the 27-year-old would need four to six weeks of rehabilitation before participating in any cricket.

"We will go for conservative management for the next four weeks and see what happens. We can't be certain if he will miss whole series. We can't say a month before the series whether he will be ruled out. The team will leave on during the first week of June, so it may be that we will think of his inclusion for the shorter versions," Chowdhury briefed.

Taskin's rehab will start around May 20th or 22nd. He had just recently returned home from London after having an assessment done by a specialist doctor.

The Dhaka-born cricketer has played 11 Tests for Bangladesh, with 25 wickets to his name. His career-best 4 for 82 came against Zimbabwe last year in Harare.

Upon his return, he said, 'I think it is too early to say when I will be available because everything will depend on my improvement but I am eager to play again as soon as possible."

The Bangladesh Tigers will travel to West Indies on June 6 for a full-fledged series. The two teams will play two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is across June and July 2022.

The first Test will be in Antigua, with the second Test being played in St Lucia. The T20Is will be spread across two venues - Dominica and Guayana, with the former hosting the first two games.

The three ODIs will occur at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on July 10, 13, and 16.

‘Still can't believe Andrew is no more’: Harbhajan Singh on Symonds’ demise

Harbhajan Singh's remembrance of Andrew Symonds is a perfect testimony of how time heals everything. After the demise of the ex-Australian international, Bhajji, like many others worldwide, paid his homage to Symonds. "Wherever you are, mate, we want you to rest in peace, and you would be missed," the former Indian off-spinner said. The friendship between Harbhajan and Symonds has a long history. India and Australia faced off in the 2008 Border-Gavaskar Series at the time. Symonds claimed Harbhajan had used a racist epithet against him in Sydney. As a result, Harbhajan was initially banned for three matches, but this was later reduced to a 50% punishment after a highly publicized battle. Interestingly, a few years later, the duo shared the same dressing room during their stint with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 'Turbanator' admitted that he got close to 'Roy' once he knew him. "Obviously, we've had a lot of history. Thanks to IPL and Mumbai Indians for putting both of us together in one dressing room. And once I got to know such a lovely human being, and we became very good friends. We used to sit together, have a drink, and laugh. He used to share a lot of stories. He was someone who I could call at 2:30 in the morning and say, 'Hey mate, what are you doing, what are you up to, let's meet', and he would be up for it," Bhajji disclosed. The cricketer-turned-commentator showcased an utter shock after hearing about Symmo's death. When Harbhajan heard about the shocking news on Sunday, he couldn't believe it. In an interview with Star Sports, Harbhajan revealed, "I was so shocked when I woke up this morning and saw my phone and I was shattered with this news that Andrew is no more. I still can't believe Andrew is no more because he's such a strong guy and whatever has happened is a very sad thing. My condolences to his family and friends and it's a loss for all of us." Symonds' death at the age of 46 came as a shock to the cricketing world. After the unexpected death of Shane Warne in March of this year, Australia lost another legend in Symonds.
