T20 World Cup: Hazratullah Zazai ruled out of the tournament due to injury

In an unfortunate turn of events, swashbuckling Afghanistan opener Hazratullah Zazai has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to injury. Zazai has been battling an abdominal and kidney concern, which has seen his ouster from the showpiece event.

Experienced all-rounder and former captain Gulbadin Naib has been drafted into the main squad as his replacement. If Naib plays Afghanistan's upcoming fixture against Sri Lanka, it will be his first T20I after almost one year.

Zazai could score just seven runs in Afghanistan's only full-fledged match in the mega event against England. The southpaw was dismissed courtesy of a brilliant catch from Liam Livingstone.

Afghanistan will lock horns with Sri Lanka in Brisbane on Tuesday. They will be desperate for a win, as a loss will likely mark their exit from the tournament.

Mohammad Nabi's side are the only team yet to register a victory in Australia, but have been a shade unlucky given their two matches have been abandoned without a ball being bowled because of rain.
