T20 World Cup 2022: Mark Butcher feels either Dawid Malan or Ben Stokes shouldn't be playing

A lot has been said about the batting lineup of England. England's win over New Zealand was one of the most important in the tournament. In the game as the English went out to bat first, Moeen Ali was promoted up the order, while Liam Livingstone too was sent up the order above Dawid Malan, Harry Brook and Ben Stokes

Former England cricketer Mark Butcher talked about the English batting lineup being unstable and a few of the batters not being deserving enough to be in the squad.

What Butcher said

“They got off to the perfect start in the first ten and got their better hitters or better strikers I suppose to come up the order. But what it illustrates is, if Dawid Malan isn’t going to bat if you get off to a good start and if Ben Stokes is going to end up batting down at, whatever six or seven, then one of them shouldn’t be playing right? It’s as simple as that.”

Stokes has been struggling to churn up runs ever since coming back from an indefinite break. Malan on the other hand came under fire after his poor strike-rate against Ireland. He scored 35 off of 37 balls coming in at number 3.
