T20 Blast 2022 | Croft-Vilas' 114-run stand, Tye's fifer, clinical Derby lit North Group's evening

Warwickshire v/s Derbyshire

Result: Derbyshire won by seven wickets

Skipper Shan Masood played the anchor role perfectly as Derbyshire Falcons notched up a comfortable seven-wicket win over Warwickshire.

Set a target of 160, the Falcons chased it down with eleven balls to spare. They got off to a brilliant start, courtesy of Luis Reece (38 off 24 balls), who tried to make the best use of the fielding restrictions. They scored 53 runs in the Powerplay overs.

After Reece fell to a run-out, Wayne Madsen took over the responsibility to attack Warwickshire's bowlers. He scored 55 off 34 deliveries, with five fours and three sixes. Captain Masood held one end and finally got the team over the line with a run-a-ball 45.

Earlier, Warwickshire's top-order was jolted by Samuel Conners' inspired spell. He scalped three wickets in the match, allowing the Falcons to restrict the opposition to 159/7. Sam Hain's 73 off 40 balls allowed the latter to post a respectable total.

Brief Scores: Derbyshire 160/3 in 18.1 overs (Wayne Madsen 55, Shan Masood 45*) defeated Warwickshire 159/7 in 20 overs (Sam Hain 73*, Samuel Conners 25/3) by seven wickets

Durham v/s Leicestershire

Result: Leicestershire won by 51 runs

Leicestershire Foxes bundled out Durham for 106, with spinners Rehan Ahmed and Callum Parkinson sharing seven wickets between themselves. This remarkable bowling effort from the Foxes allowed them to notch up a big win after setting a par score of 157/9.

Leicestershire opted to bat on a dry pitch that was going to be challenging to bat on. However, Australia's Andrew Tye rocked them with a stellar show with the ball. He claimed a fifer to give Durham a solid chance of winning at home.

However, Durham's batting line-up failed miserably. Ahmed's leg-spin and Parkinson's left-arm-orthodox turned the match in the Foxes' favour as they won by a substantial margin of 51 runs.

Brief Scores: Leicestershire 157/9 in 20 overs (Wiaan Mulder 54, Andrew Tye 38/5) defeated Durham 106 all-out in 16.4 overs (Rehan Ahmed 22/4, Callum Parkinson 16/3) by 51 runs

Lancashire v/s Nottinghamshire

Result: Lancashire won by six wickets

A spectacular 114-run third-wicket partnership between Steven Croft and captain Dane Vilas led Lancashire Lightning to a six-wicket win over Nottinghamshire Outlaws.

Lancashire put the opposition in to bat after winning the toss. The Outlaws scored briskly, but none of the batters played a long, dominating innings. A complete team effort took them to 179/7, with Samit Patel being the top scorer with 45 off 36 balls. Daniel Christian's 30 off 14 balls was instrumental in pushing the target beyond 175.

Lancashire were not off to a great start while chasing as Keaton Jennings and Josh Bohannon fell early. However, Croft and Vilas pulled the team out of distress at 31/2 in 4.1 overs.

Croft remained unbeaten on 61 (44 balls), smashing four fours and two sixes. The skipper took 30 balls for his 55, a knock studded with seven fours and two maximums.

With this win, Lancashire got one-point clear of the second-placed Northamptonshire Steelbacks, while the Outlaws stayed put at the seventh position.

Brief Scores: Lancashire 181/4 in 18.2 overs (Steven Croft 61*, Dane Vilas 55) defeated Nottinghamshire 179/7 in 20 overs (Samit Patel 45, Daniel Christian 30*, Tom Hartley 27/2) by six wickets
