NED vs ENG | 2nd ODI | England pocket the series by winning 2nd ODI in a comfortable manner

The England team continued their dominance to win the second fixture and take an unassailable lead of 2-nil in the ODI series against the hosts Netherlands.

Due to the rain, the match was reduced to 41 overs per side. The home team won the toss and opted to bat first.

The opener Vikramjit Singh (10) again fell to David Willey in the fifth over. A few overs later, Dawid Malan took a brilliant diving catch at the square-leg position to dismiss Max O'Dowd off Adil Rashid.

The youngster Brydon Carse was brought into the attack in the tenth over and caught the experienced Tom Cooper (17) plumb in front, leaving the Netherlands reeling at 36/3.

Then Scott Edwards and Bas de Leede played cautiously but made sure to send the foul balls to the boundary.

However, Liam Livingstone made Leede hole out to David Willey at mid-on for a well-made 34 off 41 balls.

Then Edwards (78 ) got the support from Teja Nidamanuru (28) and Logan van Beek (30) to post 235 on the board. David Willey and Adil Rashid scalped two wickets each for the visitors.

In reply, Jason Roy returned to his natural form to reach the mark of fifty runs in the 12th over of the innings. Phil Salt was also impressive in hitting boundaries and reached his fifty in 37 balls.

The partnership lasted 139 runs in 17 overs before Roy was caught off Aryan Dutt. Salt (77) continued his onslaught, but he was clean-bowled by Dutt when he charged down to the bowler.

The skipper Eoin Morgan was again dismissed for a duck, when his leading edge was caught at short third man position off Cooper.

A couple of overs later, Tim Pringle was accurate in breaching the defence of Liam Livingstone and bowled him for a score of 4 off 6 balls, and England were at 177/4 after 25.1 overs.

However, Moeen Ali (42*) and Malan (36*) finely steered the team as they helped England to chase down the total with around 5 overs left.

Both the teams will meet in the third and final fixture of the ODI series at the same venue, and the visitors will look to complete a series whitewash.
