T20 Blast 2022 | Coughlin's all-round display hands Leicestershire a 54-run hammering

Paul Coughlin's (42 off 30 & 4/15 in 3) all-round display has helped Durham kick start their 2022 T20 Blast campaign with a clinical 54-run win over Leicestershire.

Leicestershire had no answers to Coughlin's medium pace and his flashy blade as they surrendered meekly on Friday night.

The right-arm seamer ran through the Leicestershire top-order, and by the time the 3rd over of an 185 run-chase was done, the Colin Ackermann-led unit found themselves reeling at 3-16.

Ackermann, too, couldn't do much as he was undone by his opposite number after a pain-staking 20-ball 15.

Rishi Patel (40 off 31) tried his best to keep his side afloat, but it proved to be a bridge too far to scale.

The Durham spin trio of Liam Trevaskis, Scott Borthwick and Ashton Turner wiped out the middle-order before Coughlin returned to claim his 4th wicket.

Ben Mike (24 off 16) did wield his willow in the end before Leicestershire were eventually bowled out for 130.

Earlier, Durham rode on valuable cameos from the likes of Paul Coughlin (42 off 30 deliveries), and Ashton Turner (32 off 18 deliveries) to post 184/8 in 20 overs.

Having been inserted into bat by Leicestershire, Durham got off to a decent start as they made 47 runs in the powerplay, albeit at the loss of two wickets.

Opener Michael Jones was the first wicket to fall (in the 4th over bowled by Callum Parkinson) but not before he had smashed three fours and a six in his 13-ball 21.

Ollie Robinson departed cheaply for a 5-ball 4, as did Bedingham (1 off 2 deliveries), leaving Durham reeling at 3-47 after 6.1.

While Roman Walker (2/52 in 4) dismissed Robinson, leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed got rid of Bedingham.

But a 42-run-stand (in just 4.1 overs) between Graham Clark (36 off 27 deliveries) and Ashton Turner proceeded to revive the innings.

Both batters fell in quick succession, but the trio of Coughlin, Brydon Carse (10 off 10) and Ned Eckersley (20 off 9) ensured that Durham added 75 runs in the last 9.1 overs to end up at 184/8.

Rehan Ahmed (2/22 in 4) and Naveen-ul-Haq (1/26 in 4) proved to be the pick of the bowlers for Leicestershire.

Brief Scores:

Durham - 184/8 (20)

Paul Coughlin 42 (30), Graham Clark 36 (27);

Rehan Ahmed 2/22 (4), Roman Walker 2/52 (4)

Leicestershire - 130/10 (17.5)

Rishi Patel 40 (31), Ben Mike 24 (16);

Paul Coughlin 4/15 (3), Liam Trevaskis 2/36 (4)

Durham won by 54 runs.

T20 Blast 2022 | GLO vs SUS | Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, CREX XI

The 11th game of England's T20 Blast 2022 is set between the Gloucestershire and the Sussex Sharks on Friday (May 27) at the Bristol County Ground, Bristol. Gloucestershire didn't get the kind of start they would have dreamt of in the ongoing edition of the T20 Blast, as they lost their opening fixture in the tournament by a considerable margin of 30 runs. Their reckless bowling saw Middlesex posting a mammoth target of 230 onboard. At one stage, it looked like Stephen Eskinazi and Co. would surpass the 250-run mark, but Gloucestershire bowlers made a sharp comeback at the backend, picking up six wickets for 44 runs in the final five overs. In reply to Middlesex's 229, Gloucestershire faltered in the run-chase and fell 30 runs short. None of their batters could cross the 50-run mark in a huge run chase. Benny Howell and Ryan Higgins top-scored for them, having smacked 46 and 34 runs, respectively. Coming to Sussex, they too lost their opening match against Glamorgan after failing to defend a total of 150. None of their batters except Mohammed Rizwan (81 off 60) could go past the 15-run mark. Delray Rawlins, Steven Finn and skipper Ravi Bopara picked a wicket each for Sussex as Glamorgan completed the chase in just 18.4 overs, handing Sussex a 7-wickets defeat. Heading into their second fixture, both the teams will look to clinch their maiden victories and open their winning account in the ongoing edition of T20 Blast. Match Details Match: Gloucestershire vs Sussex, Match 11 Venue: County Ground, Bristol Date & Time: May 27 at 11:00 PM IST Live Streaming: FanCode and ECB website. Pitch Report The batters will receive maximum help from the pitch, and batting will become easier as the game proceeds. With a pretty quick outfield, the bowlers need to do something out of the box to control run leakage. We can expect a score of 160-180 here at Bristol. Head-To-Head In the 18 matches between these two teams, Gloucestershire has won 7 games while Sussex has 11 wins. The last time they met in the competition, Sussex got better off Gloucestershire, beating them by five wickets. T20 Blast 2022 | SUR vs GLM | Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, Crex XI

Surrey will begin their campaign in the T20 Blast 2022 against David Lloyd's Glamorgan. Since the tournament's inception, Surrey has tried to alter the team combinations with the trophy eluding them. They have roped in Chris Jordan and handed him the captaincy. In addition, Caribbean superstars Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard have also joined the roster. Though Pollard has not been at his best, the team management will likely back him to end the lean patch. England international Jason Roy also returns to professional cricket after taking a short break from the sport. Surrey's top order will get strengthened with his return. Glamorgan, on the other hand, has kick-started their journey in style. They defeated Sussex by seven wickets, riding on Michael Hogan's brilliant performance with the ball. Surrey needs to be wary of Sam Northeast and Marnus Labuschagne, who look in ominous touch. Match Details Match: Surrey v/s Glamorgan, Match 14 Venue: Kennington Oval, London Date & Time: May 27 at 11:00 PM IST Live Streaming: FanCode and ECB website. Pitch Report: The pitch at Kennington Oval favours the batters and is likely to stay the same throughout the match. A team winning the toss should prefer chasing on this ground.
