Surrey sign Kieron Pollard for Vitality Blast 2022

Former West Indies white-ball skipper and all-rounder Kieron Pollard has signed up Surrey for the upcoming season of the Vitality T20 Blast.

Pollard, who last featured in County Cricket during the 2010/11 season where his Somerset team lost the finals, recently retired from international cricket.

Media reports ever since his retirement had indicated that several counties had approached the T20 globetrotter for his valuable services for the forthcoming season of the T20 Blast.

Ultimately, Surrey finalized the deal with the swashbuckling batting all-rounder.

Pollard will be available for Surrey from their 2nd fixture against Gloucestershire on May 31.

Speaking on his appointment, Pollard expressed delight at the prospect of playing county cricket after a decade.

"It has been quite some time since I've played county cricket, and I'm thrilled to be returning to the Blast competition in Surrey colours this year," Pollard said.

"The Kia Oval is a special place to play, especially in front of a full house. This Surrey side is full of talent and should certainly be mounting a challenge for the title. I hope that my experience will add a vital ingredient to the club's success this year," he added.

Surrey's director of cricket, Alec Stewart, said, "We're very pleased to bring Kieron to the club. He brings an incredible range of skills and experience at the very highest level of the sport. His all-around ability will make a significant difference to the depth of the squad."

Surrey, who are yet to win the T20 Blast title since 2003, will hope that their latest acquisition regains his form in the upcoming season.
