  • Stuart Macgills Alleged Kidnapping Was Outcome Of Drug Deal Says Judge

Stuart MacGill's alleged kidnapping was outcome of drug deal, says judge

There was a huge buzz and mess created by Australian media, last year at the same time when they broke the news of Test cricketer Stuart MacGill being allegedly kidnapped and beaten up by four men around the shore of Sydney, New South Wales.

The same ‘buzz and mess’ has been created yet again as NSW state police have apprehended four men - one of them is the former cricketer’s brother-in-law, Marino Sotiropoulos - before the case took a complete U-turn.

As per the cops, MacGill had introduced his partner’s brother to a reputed drug dealer known to police as ‘Sonny’ before his alleged abduction. However, after appearing in front of a District Court judge, the alleged kidnappers were granted bail, as per Fox Cricket.

The report further stated, “The court heard there was a central disagreement between the prosecution and the defence over whether Mr MacGill had in fact been abducted, with the brothers alleging in court he had gone to the abandoned southwestern Sydney property willingly.”

Judge Alister Abadee, who’s hearing the matter, has said that the alleged kidnapping after a ‘drug deal’ went southwards. The Judge mentioned the drug dealer’s name by quoting, “Sonny had ripped off a criminal syndicate”.

Although a year ago, when this unfortunate incident cropped up with the former cricketer, NSW police called MacGill a ‘victim’ and asserted that he wasn’t involved in any criminal activity whatsoever.

However, according to the 50-year-old, he was allegedly kidnapped, demanded AUD 1,50,000 and later threatened to cut off his fingers with a pair of bolt cutters.
