In an incredible turn of events, Steve Smith, the star Australian batter has announced that he will be part of the IPL 2023! In a video released on his official Twitter handle, Steve Smith has said that he will join an exceptional and passionate team in the 16th edition of the IPL.
So, it is still not clear in what capacity the Aussie will take part in the IPL but it looks like Steve Smith will most probably join IPL as a commentator. Steve Smith has recently shown his brilliant captaincy skills by taking Australia to a ODI series win against India and got praise from all-corners for his superb tactical nous.
As he is an active cricketer playing all three formats currently, his insights on the game can be pretty intriguing. Steve Smith has also been a successful player in the IPL over the years and has scored 2485 runs with 11 fifties and one fantastic century.
The Australian superstar has represented six different IPL franchises in his career which includes Royal Challengers Bangalore, Pune Warriors India, Rising Pune Supergiants, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Rajasthan Royals and last played for Delhi Capitals in 2021.
Steve Smith, however, went unsold in 2022 and was unavailable in the 2023 auction but the man is a superstar in the cricketing world and his arrival in the IPL 2023 will now add more flavour to an already colourful cricketing carnival of India - IPL 2023!
