Starc To Partner Shami In Gujarat Titans? Ex-Aussie Star Reveals Ahead Of IPL Auctions 2024

Brad Hogg urged Gujarat Titans (GT) to try and snatch Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc in their kitty at the much-anticipated IPL 2024 auction to be held on December 19 in Dubai.

The former Aussie wristspinner reckoned Starc's influx into an attack already boasting of experienced Indian seamer Mohammad Shami could prove fatal for the opposition batting line-ups.

Starc is about to make a return to the IPL after eight long years since he last turned up for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) back in the 2014 and 2015 editions of the tournament.

While multiple franchises will be going wholeheartedly after him at the bidding war for his sheer match-winning prowess, the Titans have the purse to join the race and could be the frontrunners to secure the player's services.

Starc And Shami Together For GT?

After making a shocking one-way trade of their former skipper and premier allrounder Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians (MI), the Titans are left with a remaining purse of INR 38.50 crores and have eight overall slots to fill, including two overseas men.

For Hogg, those two overseas slots could well be reserved for two of Australia's recent ICC World Cup 2023 match-winners - opener Travis Head and spearhead Starc - as they eye a new team at the mini-auction on Sunday.

"They have the most money to spend, and they are going to go hard out for Travis Head. They want an explosive opening batter and he is the man for the job. They also have enough money in the bank for a big overseas quick to really complement Shami in the bowling department, so watch out for Mitchell Starc," Hogg said on his YouTube channel.

"He will be the man that GT picks up. He will be a great acquisition and don't be scared GT fans, he will really come this time. Just imagine Shami and Starc opening the bowling for GT in the powerplay, they are going to be hard to beat," he added.
