One of the most skilled and potent swing bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is undergoing a rough patch since the Asia Cup 2022. While his opening spells have been inspiring, Kumar's death-overs bowling has lacked venom.
In the recently concluded three-match T20I series against Australia, Kumar gave away 91 runs across all matches, despite being the most experienced campaigner in the side.
The veteran bowler has faced criticism from all quarters. However, former India bowler S Sreesanth has backed the paceman to regain his form.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sreesanth said that India should support Bhuvneshwar just like Dinesh Karthik during his time away from the national side.
Here's how Sreesanth stood by Bhuvneshwar
“He has done up good batsmen. Even if you bowl good balls, there are 60-70% chances of being hit. Sometimes, it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. We have to support Bhuvneshwar Kumar, just like (we have to support) Dinesh Karthik when it comes to batting,"
"I’m very confident about his experience and ability to swing the ball; he has a back-of-the-length slower ball, he has got the knuckle ball. If he varies his pace on the hard bouncy wickets, he will get good help on Australian pitches."
Two-time World Cup-winner Sreesanth further advised the 32-year-old to believe in his abilities and not focus on outside noise.
Kumar was rested from India's upcoming 3-match T20I series against South Africa starting September 28, and will fly to Australia with the Indian team on October 4.
