In a significant development, Cricket South Africa has named Shukri Conrad and Rob Walter as the men's team's head coaches in Tests and ODIs, respectively. Both coaches will take up their respective roles from February 1.

The apex body took to its official social media handle to make this announcement via a tweet that read,

"Shukri Conrad (red-ball) and Rob Walter (white-ball) have been revealed as the new #Proteas head coaches. We wish them all the best in their new roles."

Earlier, Conrad and Walter's names took centre stage after South Africa's horrendous tour of Australia, where the Proteas were defeated 2-0 by the home side.

South African Walter has previously worked as a strength and conditioning specialist with the national team but spent the last seven years coaching in New Zealand domestic cricket.

Meanwhile, Conrad is an experienced head coach in South African domestic cricket and was most recently in charge of the national Under-19 side.

South Africa's next assignment will be a three-match ODI series against England on home soil. The series, which holds significant importance for the Proteas, starts on January 27.
