Sri Lanka suffered a 317-run loss in the third and final One-Day International (ODI) against India last evening, making it the biggest margin of defeat for any side in one-day cricket.

The one-time ODI World Cup champions failed to show any resistance at Thiruvananthapuram, being bundled out for 73 while chasing 391.

Former Sri Lanka all-rounder Farveez Maharoof has called Sunday's loss one of the most embarrassing days in the history of Sri Lanka cricket.

While speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Maharoof said that Sri Lanka were completely outclassed in all three departments.

Here's what Mahroof said

"One of the most embarrassing days of Sri Lankan cricket for sure. It would be remembered for a record the Sri Lankan team would not want to have in their careers. The way Sri Lanka bowled and fielded and the way they batted, especially, some of the soft dismissals, (it’s) just not good enough in international cricket."

The Dasun Shanaka-led side won just one game during their six-match white-ball tour of India.

Sri Lanka's next tour will be to New Zealand, where both sides will clash in 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and as many T20Is between March 9 and April 8.
