South Africa have been handed a busy calendar for the early part of 2023. The Proteas will face England, West Indies and Netherlands in a span of just a couple of months. This comes in addition to the inaugural addition of the SA20 League which is scheduled to commence from January 10.

South Africa will face the England in a three-match ODI series , starting from January 28. The fixtures have been scheduled in such a manner that the series does not overlap with the SA20 League. The Proteas will also face West Indies for a two-match Test series, and a three-match ODI and T20I series each.

However, the three T20Is against West Indies and two ODIs against Netherlands will overlap with IPL 2023, which means a couple of first-team players could be missing. The fixtures have been spread across the country to avoid clashes with the SA20 League and the ICC T20 Women's World Cup which will be held in February 2023.

Bloemfontein and Kimberley are the two cities shortlisted for the three-match ODI series against the Three Lions. Potchefstroom and East London will host the ODIs against West Indies.

"We are trying to spread the game around and make sure some of the venues that didn't host much cricket in the pandemic get games. We are also trying to secure more matches, and if we get them, Kingsmead will definitely get some games," said Pholetsi Moseki, the CSA chief executive.
