Sourav Ganguly confirms his unavailability for the Legends League Cricket

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday denied the reports of his participation in the upcoming edition of Legends League Cricket (LLC).


Earlier the tournament organizers released a statement on the participation of the ex-Indian skipper in the forthcoming edition of the Legends League Cricket


“It is going to be a lot of fun playing with other legends,” the press release quoted Sourav Ganguly as saying.


However, when Ganguly was asked about his participation in the league, he denied the rumours of his participation and said it’s not true and he is not going to take part in the tournament.


Ganguly issues clarification over his participation

“No, I am not going to be a part of Legends League Cricket. The news isn’t true," Sourav Ganguly told NDTV.


Many retired stalwarts of the game like Virender Sehwag (India), Harbhajan Singh (India), Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka), Irfan Pathan (India), Eoin Morgan (England), Mitchell Johnson (Australia), Denesh Ramdin (West Indies) Yusuf Pathan (India), Matt Prior (England) Mashrafe Mortaza (Bangladesh), Brett Lee (Australia), Jonty Rhodes (South Africa) and Lendl Simmons (West Indies) are lined up to take the field in the LLC Season 2.


Other stars that will play in the LLC include the likes of Thisara Perera, Joginder Sharma, Liam Plunkett, Monty Panesar, Pravin Tambe, Naman Ojha, Subramaniam Badrinath, Stuart Binny, and Asghar Afghan.


The second edition of the LLC will feature four teams and 110 former international cricketers in total. It is all set to kickstart on September 20 with the finals taking place on October 10.
