Skipper Shrivastava describes feeling of winning Ranji Trophy as moment of lifetime

On Sunday (June 26), Madhya Pradesh snapped their first-ever Ranji Trophy title after defeating 41-time Ranji champions Mumbai in the final at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru by six wickets. On the final day of the match, Mumbai could only manage 269 in their second innings, a paltry target of 108 for MP to chase down in the fourth innings.

Aditya, who won the Ranji title in his maiden season as the team captain, was "ecstatic" after winning the Ranji title. He said that emotions were running high after the win.

"Completely ecstatic (on winning Ranji Trophy). Generation kind of time has gone by since MP won the Ranji Trophy for the first time. It is the moment of a lifetime for me. The emotions are deep, we are trying to laugh it out, but we are extremely emotional from the inside," said Aditya Shrivastava after winning the match and the Ranji Trophy.

Madhya Pradesh's head coach Chandrakant Pandit won his record sixth Ranji title as the coach. He had previously won Ranji Trophy titles with Mumbai on three occasions- 2002-03, 2003-04, and 2015-16 and with Vidarbha on two occasions, 2017-18 and 2018-19.

The latest title win came against Mumbai on Sunday. Aditya hailed Pandit for guiding him throughout the season in his first year as the captain.

"This has been my first year as captain, and whatever I know about leading a side is from Chandrakant (Pandit) Sir. I would like to continue this. The stage is going to come to our mind, but we have to stick to the process; that is what has got us here and will keep us here. That is the mantra we were speaking about in the meetings too."

"It is a good group coming through as we have been playing together since 2013. There is a good mix of youngsters and experienced players. Doing it once was not at all easy, but it is going to be tougher to do it again," added the MP's skipper.

Madhya Pradesh have now become the fourth first-time winner of the Ranji Trophy in the last five seasons - joining Gujarat, Vidarbha (two-time winners now), and Saurashtra.
