Ranji Trophy 2022 | Dinesh Karthik, Wasim Jaffer hail Chandrakant Pandit for MP’s title victory

On June 26 (Sunday), Madhya Pradesh secured a historical victory against Mumbai to bag the 2021/22 edition of the Ranji Trophy title. This win ended MP's drought in search of the title and they also beat Mumbai for the first time in the tournament's history.

After Mumbai posted 374 in the first innings, MP took the lead of 162 runs by scoring 536. Then Mumbai was dismissed for 269, and MP chased down the total of 108 and won the match by six wickets.

The key behind this was the coach Chandrakant Pandit, the MP team's coach. The last time the state team reached Finals was in 1997/98 under his leadership. Over the years, Pandit had helped the sides like Vidarbha and Mumbai to lift the Ranji titles, only before he joined as a head coach of the MP side in 2020.

While congratulating coach Pandit, Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik quoted the video tweet of BCCI highlighting Pandit's celebration, hinting about the tactics used by the 60-year-old to prepare the players and win titles.

"Lovely pictures @BCCI, Couldn't be happier for CHANDU sir. Amazing, Understanding personality traits, Preparing them accordingly, Using them tactically to win championships. ALEX FERGUSON of RANJI trophy #GOAT," said Karthik in his tweet.

The former India and Mumbai batter Wasim Jaffer also tweeted and reckoned that Pandit is the best coach in the country for winning the trophies. He also congratulated MP captain Aditya Srivastava for lifting the title.

"Chandu bhai, tumhaala maanla. 1st Mumbai, then Vidarbha, and now MP, it's incredible! Best coach when it comes to winning trophies. Many congratulations to skipper Aditya Shrivastava, MP team, and support staff #RanjiTrophyFinal," said Jaffer.

Under the leadership of the 60-year-old, Mumbai won the title in 2002/03, 2003/04, and 2015/16. Meanwhile, Vidarbha won the title in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons, thanks to Chandrakant Pandit.
