Gujarat Titans (GT) are out of IPL 2025 after losing to Mumbai Indians (MI) by 20 runs in the Eliminator match on Friday. The game took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

GT captain Shubman Gill got out early while chasing a huge target of 229 runs. Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar tried to steady the innings, but both got out before the final overs. GT ended up scoring 208 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Earlier in the game, MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bat first. GT made a few fielding errors, dropping Rohit Sharma twice early on. Rohit took full advantage and went on to score 81 runs off 50 balls, hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes.

Jonny Bairstow, playing in place of Ryan Rickelton, added 47 runs. Other key contributors for MI were Suryakumar Yadav (33), Tilak Varma (25), and Hardik Pandya (22). Despite some fightback from GT bowlers R Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna, who took 2 wickets each, MI posted a massive total of 228/5 in 20 overs.

Even though GT is now out of the tournament, Sai Sudharsan had a fantastic season. He became only the fifth player in IPL history to score over 750 runs in a single season. He made 759 runs in 15 innings, with one century and six fifties, and could win the Orange Cap.

With the IPL done for GT, both Sudharsan and Gill might soon join the India A team after the 1st unofficial Test match ends against England Lions.
