After ending the Rohit-Kohli era in Indian Test cricket, Team India marked a new era on May 24. Filling in Rohit Sharma’s shoes, Gill becomes the 37th Indian skipper to lead the nation in the longest format.

After this achievement, Gill’s family is enjoying his success, and his parental village is not beyond that. After news spread, the whole village lit up with pride and joy, honoring Gill's achievement.

Chak Kherewala Celebrates Their Home Boy’s Success

Hailing from a small village of Punjab, Chak Kherewala, Shubman Gill’s journey from a young cricketer to Team India’s Test captain was nothing short of inspiring. Born into a farming family, Gill’s parents made a bold move to Mohali, chasing better opportunities for the budding cricketer. Years of hard work have now borne fruit, as Gill proudly takes charge as Team India’s Test captain.

After the big news came out, the entire village came together to enjoy the home boy’s success like their own. Once mocked for leaving the village, Shubman Gill’s family is now hailed with pride. After the glory, Gill’s aunt, Gurpreet Sandhu, revealed his family’s struggle.

“People used to taunt them, saying who goes so far from home or spends so much time training for cricket. But then, somebody had to make the sacrifice. And both, my father and brother, did that. To see Shubman lead the Indian team will be the proudest moment for my father and brother,” she said.

Shubman’s Journey Inspires Hundreds Of Future Gills

Hailing from a border village to becoming the leader of the team, Gill proved hardwork says the last word. Fueled by years of training and strong family support, he now inspires hundreds of young cricketers in his village. The Fazika Cricket Association secretary also announced plans for a new stadium, marking a bright future for local talent.

“There has been a constant uptick in the number of trainees, with “more and more parents sending their children,” he said.

After Rohit Sharma’s exit, a strong buzz was going over Gill’s appointment as Team India’s Test skipper. Finally, the assumptions turned into big news, and Shubman Gill took charge as Team India’s Test skipper. With Pant being his deputy, the new Test skipper is all geared up and ready for the new challenges.
