In a massive boost for team India, Shubman Gill has recovered from the flu, which kept him out of North Zone's first-round Duleep Trophy encounter. The promising batter is set to join his teammates at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, where Indian cricketers will undergo routine fitness assessment tests before the Asia Cup.

Gill Likely To Join CoE Later This Week: Report

It's worth mentioning that India's Test skipper, Shubman Gill, was expected to lead the North Zone in the ongoing Duleep Trophy tournament. But in an unfortunate turn of events, the stylish right-handed batter was sidelined from the first quarterfinal against East Zone due to a viral flu.

However, Gill's blood test report quashed the possibility of a serious health issue, bringing a sigh of relief to the Indian camp ahead of the Asia Cup. Therefore, as The Times of India (TOI) reported, the 26-year-old will resume training this week by joining the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Indian Cricketers Undergo Rigorous Fitness Tests At CoE

Apart from Gill, several Indian players, who also participated in the recently concluded Test series against England, have joined the Centre of Excellence for fitness assessment. Batting all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has yet to recover from the injury he sustained during the England tour, while Hardik Pandya has started training in Baroda after clearing the fitness tests.

Among others, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh and B Sai Sudharsan have been spotted working on their fitness and core strengthening, with Mohammed Siraj set to join them soon. Talking about Rishabh Pant, the swashbuckling keeper-batter has had the plaster removed from his left foot and will enter the Centre of Excellence for the recovery process.

Gill's fitness status is a positive sign for India ahead of the Asia Cup, where they will face Pakistan, the UAE, and Oman in the league stage.
