The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the central contract for its women's cricketers. According to emerging reports, the central contract for the men's cricketers will likely be released around the 30th of this month.

Ishan Kishan's Place Uncertain, Iyer Set To Receive Central Contract

According to Times Of India (TOI), experienced batter Shreyas Iyer is all set to regain his central contract after missing out on it last year. Iyer played a prolific role for India in the Champions Trophy, powering them to the title with his remarkable performances.

In five innings, Iyer struck 243 runs at an average of 48.60 and a strike rate of 79.41. He has showcased incredible consistency with the bat in recent times, having amassed a blistering fifty on his maiden appearance for Punjab Kings in the IPL.

So, considering his extraordinary returns of late, the BCCI is keen to get him back as a centrally contracted player. On the contrary, the same thing can't be said about Ishan Kishan, who was one of the two players, including Iyer, to be excluded from the central contract.

"Shreyas is set to regain his contract, and it will be in a top category. However, discussions are still ongoing on whether in Ishan's case," a source was quoted as saying by TOI.

Ishan looked sublime on his debut outing for SRH, scoring a flamboyant century against Rajasthan Royals.

Rohit, Kohli To Be Retained In A+ Category, Promotion For Axar

The report also claimed that veteran batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could be retained under the A+ category. Meanwhile, Axar Patel, the recently appointed T20I vice-captain, could witness a promotion.

India's in-form spinner Varun Chakravarthy might receive his maiden central contract after showcasing exemplary form in white-ball cricket.
