Shaheen Shah Afridi undergoes MRI scan, doubtful for the second Test

Pakistan's ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has undergone an MRI scan after suffering a leg injury in the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka.

How it happened

Afridi suffered a strain in his leg while fielding on day 3 of the ongoing first Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Galle. The 22-year-old Speedster was forced to leave the field as the injury seems to have flared up. He was seen with an ice pack around his leg for the rest of the day. 

After failing to recover from pain despite ice treatment, the medical team decided to get Shaheen's MRI done.

Shaheen will continue to play in the first Test confirms PCB

Shaheen will continue to play in the Galle Test as his MRI test report is being reviewed by the medical staff of the Pakistan cricket team.

A spokesperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said the medical team has received Shaheen Afridi's MRI report which they are reviewing. The media manager confirmed that the pacer will continue to participate in the first Test.

"He will continue to participate in the ongoing match," the media manager reported.

Shaheen led the bowling attack in the first innings with four wickets, rattling the Sri Lankan batting order and limiting them to a modest total of 222. 

Pakistan ended day four on 222 for three, still needing 120 runs to complete a historic chase and take the lead in the two-match series at Galle.
