Senior Women's T20 2022 | Big names light up the stage on Day four

Day 4 of the Senior Women’s T20 league witnessed a few notable individual performances. Delhi’s Priya Punia and Baroda’s Yastika Bhatia struck magnificent half-centuries to guide their respective teams to wins. Kiran Navgire continued her dream run in the Plate Group as her unbeaten 91 single-handedly helped Nagaland quell Pondicherry’s challenge.


Priya Punia’s unbeaten 74 allows Delhi to cross the line


Opener Priya Punia followed up on her 44* in the first match with 74*(off 62 balls) against Chandigarh. Chandigarh had lost only one wicket in their innings but could only manage 134 runs. Chasing 135 to win, Punia paced her knock well as Delhi won with three balls to spare.

V Chandu’s fifer in vain as Karnataka fall short of Railways’ target


Sneh Rana-led Railways secured their second win of the tournament as they defeated Karnataka by 34 runs. Electing to bat first, Railways got off to a quick start, courtesy of S.Meghana (29 off 19 balls). Off-spinner Chandu had her stumped, and she went on to take a fifer. 


Wicket-keeper Nuzhat Parween scored a fluent 55 to get the team’s score to 155/7 in 20 overs. In reply, Karnataka lost wickets at regular intervals, with another failure for skipper Veda Krishnamurthy. 


Brief scores: Railways 155/7 in 20 overs (Nuzhat Parween 55, Chandu 5/40) defeated Karnataka 121/6 in 20 overs (S Shubha 36, K A Sarvani 26/3, Poonam Yadav 14/2) by 34 runs.


Yastika Bhatia stars in Baroda’s clinical victory over Vidarbha


Young Indian southpaw, Yastika Bhatia, roared back to form after failing in the first match. Bhatia scored 64 off 47 balls, studded with four fours and three sixes. 


She was well-supported by her skipper Radha Yadav (57*) as Baroda set Vidarbha a target of 150. However, Vidarbha fell short by 37 runs, with Radha picking two vital wickets.
