Reports: PCB to set-up special camp to prepare budding spinners in the country

In a latest development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to set up a special camp in a bid to groom young spinners around the country.

According to a report published in Cricket Pakistan, the particular camp will be set up after Eid-al-Fitr, consisting of spinners from all around the country who have excelled in domestic cricket.

Pakistan cricket has struggled to produce a quality spinner barring leg-spinner Yasir Shah in the last few years.

Their inadequacy in the spin department was exposed to the hilt during the recent Test series against Australia on home soil as Sajid Khan, and Nauman Ali failed to make any sort of impact.

Chief selector Muhammad Waseem had voiced the same concerns prior to the Test series.

According to sources, a pool of spinners will be established during the camp, keeping in mind the different formats of the game.

The selection committee has sought a list of spinners from provincial coaches, and the same will be finalized once Waseem returns from Umrah.

In addition to this, a separate camp for fast bowlers was also proposed at the National High-Performance Center, but the date for the same hasn't been confirmed yet.

Pakistani bowling struggled big time on lifeless roads during the Test series against Australia. The likes of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc comprehensively outbowled their Shaheen Afridi-led counterparts, making the use of reverse-swing to brilliant effect.

As a result, Australia eventually sealed the three-match rubber 1-0 to claim their maiden series win in Asia since 2011.
