Samson to CSK hit major roadblock [Source: @cricbuzz/x.com]
The Sanju Samson-Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran trade has hit a massive roadblock, and the deal looks difficult at the moment due to the complications caused by the inclusion of the English star in the deal. In place of Samson, RR wanted Jadeja and Curran to bolster the all-rounders department, but apparently, there is no room for more foreigners in the Royals squad.
The Royals’ overseas quota is already stacked, and they cannot incorporate Sam Curran, unless the team releases one of their existing overseas stars. With the deal taking time, Cricbuzz has reported that one of the players could have a change of heart and might pull out of the deal.
RR's money issue halts Curran deal
As reported by Cricbuzz, RR have only 30 lakhs left in their purse and don't have enough funds to bring Curran into their squad. However, the issue could be fixed by releasing overseas players for more than 2.4 crores and that would solve two issues - the foreigners slot will be left, and RR will have enough funds to bring in Curran, which in then would allow CSK to sign Samson.
Players RR can release to bring in Curran
The report mentions that RR is contemplating releasing two of their overseas stars to leave the door open for Curran to come in. They are planning to release the Sri Lankan duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana.
The Sri Lankan duo was bought last season with a lot of hope, but they both disappointed as RR are now looking to release the two stars in order to generate more funds for the Curran deal to go through, and this would allow Samson to join CSK in a trade offer.
