Sanjay Manjrekar suggests Virat Kohli to play all international matches

Former India skipper Virat Kohli has faced severe criticism for taking multiple breaks throughout the past few years, despite an ongoing lean patch.

Kohli, who rested himself from Team India's ongoing Caribbean visit, will also miss the tour of Zimbabwe.

Former Indian player Sanjay Manjrekar has urged the batting maestro to play as many matches as possible, seeing how Kohli picked and chose international games in the last two years.

Speaking on SPORTS18's show 'Sports Over The Top', the former Mumbai batter said,

“I think they should have played Virat Kohli in every international match possible, whatever the format because Virat has had his breaks. Maybe there’s some logic there that we don’t know about. Maybe they had a chat with Virat Kohli, but my personal view is the more Virat Kohli would’ve played and especially these matches would’ve been better for him,"

Kohli is expected to play non-stop cricket for India in the Asia Cup 2022 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in store.

The 33-year-old put up a disappointing show in the recently concluded white-ball series against England, managing just 45 runs in four outings. Manjrekar seems astute in his view as taking the field against Zimbabwe might have brought Kohli back in to rhythm.
