  • Samson Heaps Praise On Chahal Terms Him The Greatest Indian Leg Spinner At Present

Samson heaps praise on Chahal, terms him 'the greatest Indian leg spinner at present'

Sanju Samson has highly praised Yuzvendra Chahal following the latter's magnificent bowling performance against the Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday.

Chahal played a massive role in RR's victory as the experienced Indian spinner took four crucial wickets, breaking the backbone of LSG's batting lineup. After a narrow 3-run victory over their opponents, the Royals' skipper Sanju Samson applauded Chahal for his heroic effort in the match by saying that the tweaker has the ability to bowl at any phase of the game. The Kerala batter even went on to say that Chahal is India's greatest leg spinner at present.

"He is someone who can be given the ball from over 1 to 20", Samson said. "He is the greatest leg spinner for India at present," he further added.

Kuldeep Sen was also impressive for RR as he kept Marcus Stoinis calm in three consecutive deliveries of the last over, which ensured the Royals of their victory. When enquired about his decision of going with the debutant to bowl the 20th over, Samson admitted that the brilliance of the 25-year-old in his first three overs prompted him to make this call. The RR skipper also predicted that the promising seamer from Madhya Pradesh would likely represent the Indian team in the near future.

"It depends upon how he bowled his first three overs. But, I thought he had done really well and had the confidence to bowl those wide yorkers," Samson said. "Whatever I saw in Syed Mushtaq Ali, Royals picked him up after that. He is a special talent, can be for India soon," the RR skipper added.

Talking about their plan against KL Rahul, Samson revealed that it was Trent Boult's idea to go around the wicket and try to target the legs of the LSG captain from the very first ball.

"Boult came to me before the first ball, told me 'Sanju change of plan, I'm going to go around the wicket, and going straight in his legs and hit that bowled", the RR skipper concluded.

With three victories from four matches, Rajasthan Royals currently sit at the top of the table and lock horns with Gujarat Titans in their fifth tournament match on Thursday (14 April).
