Salman Butt condemns Shaheen Afridi's County Cricket participation

Shaheen Afridi is probably one of the best pace bowlers seen in the modern era of cricket. The pacer from Pakistan is known for his tearaway pace and impeccable ability to deliver wickets at will. Currently he is playing in the English County Championship and plays for Middlesex.

Former Pakistani Captain Salman Butt, expresses his agony over Shaheen Afridi's participation in the County Championship. Butt believes that Shaheen Afridi is the only reliable bowler in all three formats for the Pakistan team and shouldn’t get burned out.

“Shaheen is our only best bowler in all three formats. I don’t know if they looked at his workload, but County cricket is not ideal for him. He is not somebody who doesn’t know how to bowl in England. So why risk burning out such a bowler especially when he needed rest ahead of the two upcoming World Cups in one year.

There is also Test Championship and Asia Cup which are important, but County cricket isn’t as far as Shaheen is concerned," Butt said on YouTube channel Cricket Baaz.

Shaheen has even made himself available for  Middlesex team for the entire season and the county will benefit a lot with his presence in the side.

Shaheen Afridi has been sensational with the ball in the ongoing County Championship. The left-arm pacer was instrumental in Middlesex’s win over Glamorgan by an innings and 82 runs. He picked up 4 wickets in the match and was menacing with the new ball in hand.

Pakistan would be hoping that the pacer continues his good form at the international level as well.
