In a significant development, veteran Ireland batter Paul Stirling has joined Paarl Royals for the remainder of SA20 2023.

Stirling replaces Obed McCoy, who was recently ruled out from the tournament owing to an injury.

The Royals announced it via a tweet on their official social media handle.

Stirling has the reputation of a flamboyant stroke-maker. The 35-year-old possesses a plethora of experience in the shortest format, having played in numerous T20 leagues around the world.

The swashbuckling batter has amassed 7818 runs at an impressive strike rate of 141.86 in a whopping 319 T20 appearances.

Furthermore, the dynamic right-hander has been a mainstay for Ireland since his debut, garnering 3181 runs, including a hundred, at a healthy strike rate of 134.78.

He had a decent outing in the ongoing ILT20 competition, scoring 168 runs at an average of 28 in six appearances.

So, considering his form and experience, we expect the veteran to strengthen the Royals' batting order, marred by inconsistency.

Speaking of Paarl Royals, the Jos Buttler-led outfit currently occupies the fourth position in the standings, winning four of their nine encounters.

They meet Pretoria Capitals in their last group-stage fixture on Tuesday.
