SA v BAN: Injured Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam ruled out of 2nd Test

In the latest development, the Bangladesh Cricket team has dealt a body blow due to injuries to two of their leading pacers - Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam.

According to a report published in Cricbuzz, Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin said on Sunday (April 03) that the pace duo of Ahmed and Shoriful will be returning home due to their respective injuries.

Abedin further added that since Bangladesh already boast of four pacers in the squad, the selectors will not be naming replacements for the injured duo for the second Test against South Africa.

He said, "They are returning home as both of them are injured, and we are not flying any substitute for them./We have four fast bowlers remaining in the squad. So we are covered."

According to media reports, Taskin suffered an injury in his right shoulder during the first innings of the ongoing Test at Kingsmead, Durban.

Taskin bowled as many as 23 overs in South Africa's first innings, finishing with figures of 0/69.

He bowled just eight overs in South Africa's second innings. He accounted for the dismissal of opener Dean Elgar but eventually had to leave the field due to visible discomfort in his shoulder.

Shoriful, on the other hand, did not take part in the first Test either due to back problems. He has now been ruled out of the second Test as well.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh continued to fight with the ball on the fourth day thanks to their spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz and pacer Ebadot Hossain. The duo wracked havoc and picked up 3-wickets a piece.

They insinuated a mini-collapse and made sure that the home side finish their second innings on a paltry 204.

At the time of writing this news, bad light had stopped the game. Bangladesh are 11 for 3 and are in a huge spot of bother.
