Imam-ul-Haq makes history by breaking a 37-year-old record

Pakistan's opening batter, Imam-ul-Haq has created history by breaking a 37-year-old record after becoming the highest run-scorer in a three-match ODI series against Australia.

The southpaw slammed two consecutive tons (103 and 106) and an unbeaten 89 in the three matches which saw him breaking the long-lasting record of England's Graham Gooch, who tonked 289 runs in a three-match ODI series against Australia way back in 1985.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam stands in the third spot on the list with 276 runs in the particular series.

Earlier in the 3rd ODI, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf's bowling duo blew Australia's top order early, and the visitors were struggling at 6-3 after five overs. However, they somehow managed to get 210 runs on the board. But all went in vain, as Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam glued a magnificent 190 runs partnership to take Pakistan past the finishing line and clinch the 50 over format series.

Imam-ul-Haq also bagged the feat of the quickest player to reach 9 ODI centuries. He achieved this feat in his 48th inning, getting past Hashim Amla, who did this in 52 innings.

Meanwhile, Pakistan have sealed the ODI series 2-1 over Australia, and Babar Azam was awarded as the man of the series after stockpiling 276 runs, including two tons and a fifty, at an average of 138.

This was Pakistan's first ODI series win against Australia since 2002. They last did it under the captaincy of great Waqar Younis.

Pakistan will also play a one-off T20I against Australia on 5th April, Tuesday.
