Ruturaj Gaikwad anchored a solid 77* (47) against Zimbabwe in the 2nd T20I of the 5-match series at Harare Sports Club, helping India reach a mammoth 234 on Sunday afternoon.

India lost captain Shubman Gill in the second over, cheaply after winning the toss and batting first. Ruturaj Gaikwad joined Abhishek Sharma in the middle and started slow, anchoring the knock by playing as the second fiddle to Abhishek who went hammer and tongs with his 100(47).

Ruturaj started accelerating after being 33*(29) to finish at 77*(47), garnering acknowledgment from the recently crowned T20 World Champion, Suryakumar Yadav who made a tweet calling him "Pure Class."

Suryakumar Yadav also made it a point to tweet and heap praises on the other two batters, Abhishek Sharma and Rinku Singh who both struck at over 200 while setting the target.

The explosive batter who was recently honored by the state government for helping India win the T20 World Cup with his valiant contributions in the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies where he scored 199 runs and took a match-turning catch of David Miller in the final has been rested for the T20I series in Zimbabwe to manage the workload.
