The 2022 Royal London One-Day Cup continued with Essex taking on Kent in Chelmsford on August 11. Here is a look at the highlights from the Group B game.

Essex vs Kent

After Essex skipper Tom Westley won the toss and opted to bat first, he carpet-bombed the entire County Ground surface with a scintillating 109. He received much assistance from Grant Roelofsen during their 184-run alliance for the fourth wicket.

Westley and Roelofsen’s rapid knocks, coupled with Shane Snater’s death overs fury elevated the Essex total to 331.

Kent responded well in the run-chase, but a barrage of wickets at the end became the undoing of Ben Compton and Ollie Robinson’s rebellious efforts at the top.

Snater, who struck a thunderous 22-ball 41 with the bat, claimed five with the ball for just at the expense of 29 runs. The 182-run win gave hosts Essex their opening points of the season as well as marked their biggest win over Kent in List A history.
