Led by Rohit Sharma, India will kickstart their home season with a high-voltage Test series against Bangladesh, starting this 19th. The first Test between the two Asian powerhouses will take place at the iconic M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, while Kanpur's Green Park will host the deciding clash.

Regarding Rohit Sharma, the veteran batter will make his return to the cricket field after India's forgettable ODI series against Sri Lanka. The experienced Mumbaikar has reached Chennai and started practising for the much-anticipated contest

So, as the Indian captain gears up to take on the Tigers, let's see which batting milestones he can achieve in this series.

Rohit Might Overtake Tendulkar In An Elite List

Virat Kohli is India's most successful batter against Bangladesh across formats. He is followed by Sachin Tendulkar, who has 1316 international runs against the Tigers. However, Rohit occupies the third position on this list with 1296 runs and needs only 21 runs to overtake the Master Blaster. Rohit might even go past Kohli if the latter doesn't bring up his A-game in the Bangladesh series.

Rohit Likely To Surpass Kohli And Achieve An Illustrious Feat

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have performed admirably against Bangladesh over the years. While Kohli has twelve scores of fifty or more, Rohit has breached the 50-run mark eleven times against the Tigers across formats. Thus, the Indian captain needs only two fifties to eclipse Kohli and top the list, provided the latter doesn't score a half-century in the series.

Rohit Could Go Past Nissanka To Become Most Successful Batter In 2024

Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka recently grabbed the limelight, becoming the highest run-getter in international cricket this year. The elegant opener smashed a blistering ton in the third Test against England at Kennington Oval, overtaking the likes of Jaiswal and Rohit to claim the top position in this process.

However, the Bangladesh series gives Rohit a golden opportunity to surpass Nissanka's tally of 1135 runs and become the most successful batter this year. Currently, Rohit has 990 runs in 2024 and needs 145 runs to attain the landmark.
