In a remarkable turn of events, legendary batter Rohit Sharma has scripted history with a scintillating ton against Australia in the ongoing Nagpur Test.

Rohit, who bailed India out of trouble with a sparkling knock, became the first-ever Indian to score a century as a captain across formats.

As captain, Rohit had five centuries, three in ODIs and two in T20Is, to his name before this game. However, as soon as the talismanic batter accomplished his maiden Test ton as skipper, he achieved the aforementioned sensational feat.

In his almost 16-year-long international career, Rohit has established himself as a mainstay for India in all three formats.

Initially regarded as a white-ball specialist, the batter made his presence felt in his debut Test, taking the West Indies bowlers to the cleaners to smash a memorable century.

However, the harsh reality of Test cricket started to hit him hard as he toured overseas and was shuffled throughout the batting order without any substantial success.

But as they say, comebacks are bigger than setbacks, the Hitman silenced his critics as soon as he was promoted to the top, garnering truckloads of runs in challenging batting conditions.

Regarding the game, India are cruising at the moment, placed at 176 for 5. With Rohit and Ravindra Jadeja batting on 100* and 2*, respectively, the hosts look all set to take a decisive lead in the first innings.
