Rohan Jaitley To Replace Jay Shah As BCCI Secretary; To Take The Authority On December 1

Rohan Jaitley has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Jay Shah as the next Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after Shah steps down in November, according to reports. Shah was elected unopposed as the next Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in August and will assume the top position on December 1.
According to India Today, Rohan Jaitley and Gujarat Cricket Association Secretary Anil Patel are expected to compete for the BCCI Secretary post. The report indicates that there will be no Special General Meeting (SGM) to discuss Jay Shah’s replacement, and Jaitley is widely regarded as the favorite to succeed Shah.
Rohan Jaitley's Journey In Cricket Administration
Rohan Jaitley’s journey in cricket administration began about four years ago when he was elected President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), a role his father held for 14 years.
Under Jaitley’s leadership, DDCA has introduced various reforms and improvements. He managed the hosting of five ODI World Cup matches in 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. He also launched the first edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL).
Jay Shah To Step Down As BCCI Secretary
Meanwhile, Jay Shah, the current Honorary Secretary of the BCCI is set to take up the position on December 1, 2024. He has served as BCCI Secretary since 2019, having started his cricket administration career with the Gujarat Cricket Association in 2009. He has played a key role in the BCCI’s commendable operations, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shah will remain as BCCI Secretary until the end of November, with no intention of stepping down earlier.
