Robert Haynes takes over as interim West Indies selector after Ramnaresh Sarwan resigns

Ramnaresh Sarwan has stepped down as the selector for the West Indies senior men's team. Due to personal reasons, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced that former hitter Ramnaresh Sarwan has resigned as a selector for the Men's national side and Youth Selection Panels.

CWI issued an official statement stating, "Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirms the resignation of West Indies Senior Men's side and Youth Selector, Ramnaresh Sarwan, due to personal reasons. Ramnaresh Sarwan was appointed as a Selector for the West Indies Men's Youth and Selection Panels on January 6, 2022. However, he has informed CWI that he is no longer able to continue in the role."

Until a suitable full-time candidate is appointed, Robert Haynes, the current lead Selector of the Men's Youth Selection Panel and past interim Chairman of Selectors, will serve as a replacement. Along with Senior Men's Team lead Selector Desmond Haynes and Head Coach Phil Simmons, Robert will serve on the Selection Panel.

Jimmy Adams, CWI Director of Cricket, congratulated Ramnaresh for his achievements throughout his tenure, adding, "Given the depth of his experience in the game, we are disappointed that Ramnaresh is unable to continue in the role of a selector, but we fully understand and accept his reasons. We are grateful for his contribution during the period he was involved and hope that he will be able to contribute to West Indies Cricket in some capacity in the future."

CWI will begin a competitive recruitment process for the Selector position as soon as feasible, based on specified criteria. The goal will be to complete this procedure as quickly as possible so that a suitable candidate can assist the Selection Panel in fulfilling its responsibilities.

The West Indies Men's squad is currently on tour in the Netherlands for the ICC ODI Super League's first-ever ODI Series between the Netherlands and the West Indies.
