A mock auction of IPL 2025 conducted by Star Sports and JioCinema reveals that former DC captain Rishabh Pant and ex-LSG skipper KL Rahul shall be among the top contenders for big bids.
Left Delhi Capitals before the mega auction, Rishabh Pant was sold to Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a staggering 33 crore. Commenting on his appeal, the auction expert and former England captain Eoin Morgan said Pant is a young MS Dhoni with explosive batting, wicketkeeping skills, and leadership potential.
Pant, Rahul expected to break records at IPL 2025 mega auction
On the flip side, KL Rahul's auction price went as high as to 29.5 crores and got sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). What led to the move by RCB was the consistency by Rahul with the bat and the want to fill the void created by Dinesh Karthik and his potential to anchor innings in the post-Virat Kohli era needed to be seen.
Some other prominent names included in this list are Shreyas Iyer at 21 crore with Kolkata Knight Riders, Mitchell Starc for 18 crores with Mumbai Indians, and Yuzvendra Chahal for 15 crores with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Arshdeep Singh will shift to PBKS for Rs 16.5 crore and Ishan Kishan will go to Delhi Capitals for Rs 15.5 crores, as was seen during the mock auction. Some part of the price range seems a bit high, but the mock auction was nevertheless an interesting insight ahead of the main event.
The IPL 2025 mega auction will be held on November 24 and 25 at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
