India Women gave a memorable farewell to the legendary Jhulan Goswami as they clean swept England Women by 3-0. The final One Day International of the three-match series at the Lord’s in London was nothing less than a rollercoaster ride, with the momentum shifting back and forth between the two teams.

Finally, in the end, it was India who managed to hold their nerves as they secured a victory by 16 runs. Batting first in the game, the Women in Blue posted 169 runs on the scoreboard. Deepti Sharma was the top run-scorer, while Smriti Mandhana also smacked a gritty fifty.

Chasing the total, England succumbed to a horrendous start. It was Renuka Singh who ran through the host’s batting line-up to give them a run for their money. The right-arm seamer picked a total of four wickets at an economy rate of 2.9. She accounted for the likes of Tammy Beaumont, Emma Lamb, Sophie Dunkley, and Amy Jones.

The crucial wickets by Renuka resulted in England Women scoring only 153 runs in their allotted 50 overs. She also won the Player of the Match award because of her exploits with the ball. The seamer looked extremely happy with her performance, as she credited her coach for always being there for her.

The pacer was also pleasant to make a winning contribution at the Lord’s stadium. However, she seemed gutted about not making it to the Honours board after missing a well-deserved fifer.

Speaking in the post-match presentation, Renuka said,

“I go back and talk to my coach, who tells me whenever there is a bad phase, he always motivates me and gives me the confidence to improve. I was excited about playing at Lord's and always dreamt of playing here. I was glad to not only play here but contribute to the team's win. I hope to come back at Lord's next time and play well here as well."
