'RCB Star' Named in India ‘A’ Squad for ACC Emerging Women’s Asia Cup

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the India 'A' squad for the highly anticipated Emerging Women's Asia Cup, set to take place in Hong Kong from June 12 to June 21. 

Leading the women's India 'A' (Emerging) squad will be Shweta Sehrawat, a talented cricketer from Delhi and former vice-captain of the national women's U-19 squad. Soumya Tiwari has been named as Shweta's deputy in the team. The squad will be guided by head coach Nooshin Al Khadeer as they commence their campaign on June 13.

The India A squad comprises several impressive performers from the U-19 T20 World Cup, including leg-spinner Parshavi Chopra and pacer Titas Sadhu. The squad also includes the wicketkeeping talents of Uma Chetry and Mamatha Madiwala.

In addition, the selectors have recognized the exceptional performances of Kanika Ahuja and Shreyanka Patil in the 2023 Women's Premier League (WPL), where they excelled with the bat and ball respectively for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

The tournament is set to kick off on June 12, with the final match scheduled for June 21, 2023. India 'A' has been placed in Group A alongside hosts Hong Kong, Thailand 'A', and Pakistan 'A'. Group B consists of Bangladesh 'A', Sri Lanka 'A', Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

India will begin their campaign on June 13, facing the host nation Hong Kong at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground. The Emerging Women's Asia Cup promises to be a thrilling event, showcasing the emerging talents of women's cricket and providing a platform for young players to shine on the international stage.
