The Women’s cricket fans are gearing up for another thrilling chapter of Women’s Ashes, commencing soon. The Australia Women is all set to host the England Women in a thrilling limited-over series starting from January 12. Adding to the excitement, Cricket Australia unveils a formidable 13-member squad for the limited-over series, featuring some superstars.
The Australian Women is all set to face the England Women in an ODI and a T20I series on their home soil. Under Alyssa Healy’s leadership, the home team is all set for the challenges. With strategic changes and a fresh squad, Australia is greasing up to make a strong statement in the series.
Sophie Molineux Misses Out
As Allyssa Healy is set to lead the team in the upcoming limited-over series, the team faced a setback with Sophie Molineux, the RCB star in the Women's Premier League (WPL), sidelined. The ace bowler is still recovering from her knee injury, which requires surgery, ruling her out of the series. That is a massive setback.
Due to that injury, the Aussie star missed the recently ended New Zealand Tour. Apart from this, she missed the previous two Ashes series due to injury and this absence added another blow in his career. The Australian team’s physiotherapist Kate Beerworth provided the update on the boler.
“Sophie Molineux will undergo left knee surgery next month, following that we will provide further updates on an anticipated return date,” Kate said.
Georgia Voll Comes In The Squad
As the ODI series is set to raise curtains on January 12, the Australian side is ready to tackle the challenges with a formidable squad. After an impressive debut against India last month, young Aussie batter Georgia Voll returns to the squad for the upcoming series. Along with that, Grace Harris has been named in the squad just for the T20I series.
The Australian is looking formidable with the presence of Ashleigh Gardner, Georgia Wareham, and Alana King. Alyssa Healy's comeback in the previous tour has been an asset for the team. With the series around the corner, cricket fans across the globe are all set to experience some thrilling cricket actions.
