As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 nears its start, the Pakistan Cricket Board is busy chalking out final plans for the tournament. As per a report in Cricket Pakistan, the eighth edition of the PSL will be held across four venues — Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi.

It further adds that Pindi Stadium could host as many as 11 matches, with home side Islamabad United playing five matches. The schedule for the upcoming edition of PSL 2023 is expected to be out soon.

Pindi last hosted a PSL match back in 2020 between United and Multan Sultans. The opening ceremony is expected to be held in Multan Stadium on February 13, and the final in Karachi on March 19.

A source speaking with the news outlet claimed that crowd attendance is a main factor in giving Rawalpindi these many matches.

Here's what the source confirmed

"Yes, Pindi Stadium will host the most number of matches during the eighth edition. Out of 34 matches during the PSL 8, host team Islamabad United will be seen in action five times at home. There will be a one-day break in between and one match for each day while a doubleheader is also planned in between."

The Rawalpindi Stadium has lately been in the news for producing flatbeds in Tests against Australia and England, respectively where the ICC awarded the venue demerit points.
