'He is yet to take off in ODIs'- Mohammed Kaif on Suryakumar Yadav

Despite being a prolific T20I batter, Suryakumar Yadav has not really proved his mettle in One-Day internationals. Fondly called as India's Mr 360, Suryakumar has managed only 419 runs at an ordinary average of 29.93 in 18 ODI appearances.

Although the 32-year-old got a brisk start in the first ODI against New Zealand, he failed to convert it into a big score, falling prey to Daryl Mitchell for 31.

Ahead of the second ODI in Raipur, former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif has opined that Suryakumar would be gutted for not living up to the expectations in ODIs.

Kaif, an integral member of India's 2002 Champions Trophy winning squad, also advised the Mumbai batter to take his time and capitalise on the starts.

Here's what Kaif stated

"He is in extremely good form in T20s, but is yet to take off in ODIs. He has hit only two fifties and it has been 16-17 innings. So there is disappointment there. He himself knows that,

"He is a fantastic player and is in good form as well but he has to work. I have expectations from him but every format is different. Tests, ODIs and T20Is are all different. If someone says ODIs and T20Is are similar, it's not the case. This is a very long game, you have time. Suryakumar Yadav has to work there."
