Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri, on Friday (September 16) confirmed that he is no longer interested in taking up any coaching duties going forward.

Ravi Shastri’s tenure as India’s head coach will go down in the history of Indian cricket as one of the best coaching stints.

Under his guidance, team India went on to achieve a No.1 ranking in Tests, squashed Australian twice in the Test series, that too on Australian soil, as well as triumphs in England and South Africa.

India also reached the final of the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship under his reign as head coach. Shastri's tenure with the Indian Cricket team ended with the team's early exit from the T20 World Cup 2021.

I've done enough in seven years: Ravi Shastri

Shastri, on being asked if he would be interested in taking up the coaching role with the teams in any of the leagues, the former Indian captain was quick to reply that his time with coaching is over and now he will only enjoy the game from outside as a viewer.

Interacting with Sports Today, here is what Shastri had to say on his coaching future:

"My time with coaching is over now. I've done enough in seven years."

Shastri, who is currently the commissioner of the Legends League Cricket, further added that he will be working at the grassroots level of the game and will provide coaching in that aspect only.

"If I'm doing some coaching, it will be at the grassroots level, for which I have a company that is doing it. I will participate in that. Otherwise, my time as a coach has come to an end. Now I will view the game from far away and enjoy it."

The Shastri-Kohli duo helped Indian Cricket reach the pinnacle in various aspects but often the duo and the team has been placed under major scrutiny for not having added the ICC trophy to their cabinet.
