One of the hottest entities in T20 cricket, Afghanistan's Rashid Khan, is set to play in the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League after threatening to boycott Australia's premier T20 competition.

Following Cricket Australia's cancellation of the white-ball series against Afghanistan in January 2023 on humanitarian grounds, Khan threatened to withdraw from participating in the BBL.

However, as per The West Australian, the leg-spinner has talked with the CA officials and is keen on featuring in the tournament. CA will soon announce the official list of players nominated in the overseas draft, which is due to take place on September 3.

Other Afghanistan players such as Mujeeb ur Rahman, Noor Ahmed and Izharulhaq Naveed have also put their names in the hat for the draft.

Khan, who played for Adelaide Strikers earlier, could find his way back to the franchise, given his availability as a first-round retention pick.  The 24-year-old made a remarkable debut in BBL 2017-18 for Strikers, claiming 18 wickets in his maiden season and helping the club win their first title.

Since then, Khan has picked 98 wickets in BBL at an average of 17.51. The Gujarat Titans player is currently engaged in a three-match ODI series against Pakistan in Sri Lanka ahead of the Asia Cup 2023.

Other noteworthy names in the overseas draft are Alex Hales, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Martin Guptill, Ollie Pope, Imran Tahir, Nicholas Pooran, Rilee Rossouw, Faf du Plessis and Colin Munro.
